Studio City has had a run of new coffee shops lately, so here's where we go and exactly what we order at each. Independent shops come first, then the bigger names, then two favorites just over the line in Sherman Oaks.

Independent

1. Saint Coffee Shop

   Order: Pistachio Latte, hot or iced

   Our favorite pistachio latte in the neighborhood. If you want it sweeter, there's also a sweet cream version.

2. Coffee and Plants

   12334 Ventura Blvd · @coffeeandplantsla
   Order: 24k Charcoal Latte

   A fully plant-based café, and the latte comes out jet black with gold leaf on top.

3. rōk coffee and tea

   Order: Lotus Einspanner

   An einspanner is espresso under a thick cap of sweet cream, and this one is flavored with Lotus Biscoff.

4. Yala

   Order: Fig & Vanilla Matcha Latte

   Matcha with organic fig purée and vanilla bean syrup, from their signature menu.

5. Coffee Fix

   A mocha with a kick of spice.

6. M Street Coffee Sherman Oaks

   Right on the Studio City line, and worth the extra block.

The bigger names

1. Alfred

   Order: Iced Chagaccino or the Espresso Cloud Cream

   The Chagaccino is espresso and milk with a chaga mushroom, cacao and cinnamon blend. The Cloud Cream is vanilla cream over iced espresso, topped with sea salt and cocoa.

2. Bluestone Lane

   Order: Flat White

   The Australian classic: a double espresso with silky steamed milk.

3. Blue Bottle

   11962 Ventura Blvd · @bluebottle
   Order: Iced NOLA

   Their New Orleans-style iced coffee, sweet and creamy with chicory.

4. Blank Street

   13273 Ventura Blvd · @blankstreet
   Order: Cinnamon Bun Matcha

   Matcha with oat milk and a vanilla, honey and cinnamon syrup. It's on the autumn menu, so get it while it lasts. This is Blank Street's first LA shop.
